UzSAMA hosted a meeting on the occasion of Tatyana Proskuryakova's start of work as the new head of the World Bank's representative office in Uzbekistan

On October 2 this year, a meeting was held at the State Assets Management Agency with representatives of a delegation led by World Bank's Regional Director for Central Asia Tatiana Proskuryakova.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Director of the UzSAMA, A. Ortikov, congratulated Tatiana Proskuryakova on the commencement of the regional office of the World Bank in Tashkent since July of this year, as well as on her appointment as the new head of the World Bank's office in Uzbekistan. He wished her success, achievement of high results in her future activities.

It was also emphasized that bilateral cooperation is successfully developing and has already demonstrated significant results within the framework of reforms. In particular, in close collaboration with the World Bank, the Laws "On Management of State Property" and "On Privatization of State Property" were developed and adopted.

Additionally, it was noted that the adoption of these fundamental documents has significantly increased the efficiency of privatization processes in Uzbekistan.

At the beginning of the year, a new privatization program for 2024 was approved by the President, which includes plans to privatize shares in 247 state enterprises and over 1,000 real estate properties, as well as to list shares of large state companies on local and international markets in the form of IPOs and SPOs.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed ongoing projects, including the development of an automation program for the monitoring system of state enterprises' activities (BI system) within the framework of the World Bank's project to increase institutional capacity in Uzbekistan (IBL), as well as the need to attract an international consultant to improve the corporate governance system and unified policy of state enterprises.

Furthermore, it was reported that UzSAMA plans to develop a strategy for reforming and privatizing state enterprises in 2025-2030 years. In this regard, the World Bank expressed its readiness to provide technical assistance in the development of this important document.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed mechanisms to expedite the implementation of ongoing projects and joint actions, agreeing to continue active cooperation to develop new promising initiatives.
